Amy Patterson: Ex-husband says missing school teacher died in accident

Amy Patterson, 41, of Bokeelia, Florida was last seen on July 29 on Pine Island.

She never showed up to teach on the the first day of school at Mariner Middle School in Cape Coral on August 1st.

Amy's ex-husband, Daniel Proctor, 44, who lives in Fort Myers, Florida with Amy, showed up in Alabama to visit his mother, Joyce Rosenbaum, and when she asked Daniel where Amy was, he said she had gone to Texas to see her son.  Joyce became suspicious and called the Florida school district and found that Amy never showed up for work. 

A neighbor talked to Proctor and he told her that Amy had died in a car accident while on the way to visit her son.

Since then, the police found that information to be false. 

According to news-press, Proctor had a history of abuse towards Amy.  They divorced in 1994, but got back to gather a couple of years ago. 

Now Proctor has left town and the police do not know where he is.

They are considering him a person of interest and would like to talk with him.
